Elizabeth (Liz) Hollandsworth passed away, with family at her side, on January 31, 2021, in Durango, Colorado. She was born November 6, 1928 in Panora, Iowa to Wesley Elmer Barcus and Francis Leoline Ulrich. Her family moved to Fruita, Colorado where she graduated Fruita High School. She married James I. Hollandsworth Jr. (Jim) in 1949. Liz followed her husband in his career with the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad and lived in numerous locations including Grand Junction and Arvada, Colorado; Boise, Idaho; Salt Lake City and Orem, Utah. She lived with her daughter and son-in-law in Durango since 2012 until moving into Assisted Living at Sunshine Gardens West in 2014.
During her life, Liz loved to sing and often performed in school musicals, at weddings and in church choirs. She was an accomplished pianist. She was active in Women's church groups wherever the family lived. Liz loved to sew and quilt and always kept a cookie jar full of homemade goodies. She welcomed any guests to her home no matter where the family lived. She and Jim retired to Henderson, Nevada in 1983.
Liz was preceded in death by: son-in-law, Greg F. Janson; brothers: Willard and John and sisters: Ruth, Helen and Mary.
Liz is survived by: two daughters Susan Janson and Linda Van Wagenen (Richard); four grandchildren Sarah (Mark) Bernardo, Erica (Matt) Henry, Andrew and Christopher Van Wagenen and great-grandchildren Aiden, Bailey, James and Justin.
