Obituary for
Marjorie Katheryn Hoff (Gallfus)
Marjorie Katheryn Gallfus Hoff died Saturday, July 20, 2013, at her home near Ignacio, Colo., from lung cancer. She was 68. She was born July 30, 1944, in Rolla, N.D., to Alfred and Mary Gallfus, the eleventh of fourteen children. She attended Rolla High School, and later moved to Anaheim, Calif., where she met and married Dale Golberg. They had two sons, Rodney and Troy. After the marriage ended in divorce, she worked at a bar as a bartender and cocktail waitress. This was where she met Ramon (Ray) Hoff. After a period of time, they married on April 24, 1976, in Las Vegas, Nev. Ray had two sons, Vernon and George, from a previous marriage. Between them they raised four boys. Mrs. Hoff worked as a teller in a small bank, and then as a sales person at Harris and Frank. Later she worked at three Target stores before moving to Bayfield, Colo., where she and Ray bought and ran The Horseman's Lodge for five years. They sold that business and moved to their current residence outside Ignacio. She fulfilled a lifelong dream of owning and raising horses; she called her ranch in Ignacio the "Gremar," which represents the first three letters from "Greta" (her sister) and "Marjorie." Mrs. Hoff is preceded in death by two sisters, Lorraine Ortega and Elizabeth Fischer, both of Fargo, N.D. She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Ramon Hoff, of Ignacio, and their four sons: Rodney Golberg of Ignacio, Damon Troy Golberg of Atlanta, Vernon Hoff of San Diego, and George Hoff of Hawthorne, Calif., three sisters, five brothers, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and many friends. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at the Gremar Ranch, 2341 County Road 521 (7.4 miles south on Buck Highway).
