Ron Hilton

Ron Scott Hilton, 51, died Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at his home in Durango, Colorado. Cremation will occur at Hood Mortuary Crematory in Durango and services will be held in California at a later date.

Mr. Hilton was born December 9, 1959 in Long Beach, California the son of Herbert and Vern (Heck) Hilton. Mr. Hilton grew up and attended schools in San Diego. After graduation, he moved to Lake Tahoe and became a tree arborist. He was very gifted and was quite skilled at the profession. He eventually moved back to the San Diego area in the early 1980's. During this time, Mr. Hilton was an accomplished surfer and was always in the company of many ladies! A car accident in 1988 forced Mr. Hilton from the arbor profession and it was then in the early 1990's that he became involved in training for the Special Olympics and moved to Colorado. He thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors and mountain living. He was very talented having skills in reading Braille, tie-dying, pottery and being an all around adventurer. "Ron, you'll be missed by all, we love you and we'll see you again when we join you in heaven," fondly recall his family.

He is survived by his father, Herbert Hilton of California; his 3 daughters: Rachael Louise Hilton of Hawaii, a daughter in California and Brittany Lauren Hilton also of California; stepson, Maurice Hutchings of Bayfield, CO; stepdaughter, Jessie Linner of California, as well as 5 sisters and 1 brother.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Deborah Hilton, his daughter Brooke Hilton-Clinkscales and his mother, Vern Hilton.
