Obituary for
Sharon Lee Hieronymus
Sharon Lee Hieronymus of Mancos, Colorado passed away October 12, 2017 at The Valley inn. She was born on August 5, 1946 in Lamar, Colorado to Murl H. Hieronymus and Ellen Mayhew Hieronymus. She grew up on a farm northeast of Lamar. Sharon was the youngest of five children. She attended Hopewell Elementary School and graduated from Lamar Union High School.
Sharon loved 4-H where she learned to sew. She also took piano lessons for several years and had a great fondness for music all her life. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior early in her teen years and was a member of the Christian Church at Lamar and taught Sunday School for many years as she loved the little children. She spent years caring for her ailing mother and also did some volunteer childcare, as well.
In March 2012 she moved from Lamar to Mancos, Colorado to be closer to family living in this area. She lived in the independent wing at The Valley Inn where she made it her goal to meet people in the facility, visit with them to cheer them up and to let them know about her Best Friend, Jesus. Because of her declining state of physical and mental health, she spent the last year or so of her life in the secured portion of the facility. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her sister Helen West (Herb, deceased), Aurora, CO; sister Norma Perry (Jim), Cortez, CO; brother Jim (Liz), Loveland, CO; brother Bill (Judy), Bristol, CO; Aunt Ida Mayhew, Cibolo, TX and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great and great great nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at the Hood Mortuary Chapel, Durango, Friday, October 20, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. and burial will follow at Greenmount Cemetery.
