Jerrold T. Heber
May 6, 1949 - July 29, 2018
Loving husband, father, father-in-law, brother, brother-in-law and grandfather, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, in Pagosa Springs, Colorado.
Born Jerrold Thomas Heber in Chicago, Illinois to Joseph and Juanita Heber, the oldest of three children. He lived most of his life in Chicago, attending St. George and Amundsun High Schools, where he was named "Mr. A" for his athletic abilities.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War on the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Shangri-La. He was fortunate to have had cruises that took him around the world, receiving an honorary discharge in 1971. He later served the town of Evanston, Illinois as a firefighter/paramedic, where he retired in 1999, after twenty years of service.
In the early 1980's he moved to Mundelein, Illinois, where he married Paulette Hojnacki and raised their family. He spent the last 13 years of his life in beautiful Pagosa Springs, Colorado, where he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and loved ones and cruising around the foothills and mountains on his yellow scooter.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Paulette and adoring children Ellyn (Brian) Jarvis, Ojai, CA; Amy Heber, Durango CO; Matt (Alicia) Heber, Santa Cruz CA; Jarret Heber, Pagosa Springs CO. He will be dearly missed by his nine grandchildren, Nolan, Emelia, Avery, Carter, Stella, Nia, Hannalee, Louis and Olivia. He is also survived by his mother Juanita (McDade) Heber; brother Jamie (Cathy) Heber; sister Jody (Mike) Abad; brother-in-law Stanley Hojnacki; five nephews, one niece and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Jerry is predeceased by his father, Joseph Heber.
Private family services will be held in Pagosa Springs, Colorado and California.
