Obituary for
Kitt S. Harman
Durango resident Kitt Stone Harman died Friday, Nov. 4, 2011, in Durango. He was 26.
Mr. Harman was born to Jimi Lee and Marita Jean Harman on Oct. 21, 1985. He was the last baby born at Community Hospital in Durango.
He graduated from Durango High School in 2006 and from Wyoming Technical Institute in Laramie, Wyo., in 2007, with a certification as an auto mechanic.
Mr. Harman then moved to Boulder, where he worked for McCaddon Cadillac for 3½ years. At that time, he returned to Durango to help his father with the family business, Valley Yardvarks.
“Kitt loved his family, friends and the outdoors,” his family said. “He enjoyed hunting, fishing and hiking, but his favorite place was Navajo Lake, where he grew up enjoying most weekends and holidays.”
He also enjoyed weekend barbecues and spending time with his “barbecrew buds.”
Mr. Harman is survived by his parents, Jimi Lee and Marita Jean Harman, both of Durango; sister, Kimberly Dawn Noble, of Durango; brother, Dustin Lee Gruett, of Austin, Texas; and three nephews.
A celebration of life and potluck will be held at noon Saturday, Nov. 26, 2011, at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4031, 1550 Main Ave. in Durango. Friends are asked to bring memories and a dish to say goodbye.
