Kenneth George Hansen, Jr.
Kenneth G. Hansen, Jr., 66, died Tuesday, November 26, 2013 in Durango, Colorado. Services will be announced at a later date. Mr. Hansen was born February 9, 1947 in Omaha, Nebraska the son of Kenneth and Evelyn Hansen, Sr. He grew up in Omaha, Neb., and graduated from Omaha North High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during the Vietnam War, stationed in Germany. Ken, as he was known, has worked in many different professions throughout his life. Most notably, in recreational vehicle service and repair, La Plata County Sheriff, and various construction and labor related careers. Ken was married to Donna Hansen from 1970-1986 and two daughters were given to that marriage; that marriage later ended in divorce. Ken married Deanne “Dee” (Eckert) Hansen on May 22, 1999 in Lincoln, Neb. The family moved to Durango in July of 1999. Ken enjoyed volunteering and attending the Durango Cowboy Poetry Gathering, woodworking and was an avid Nebraska Husker fan. He is survived by his wife Deanne “Dee” Hansen of Durango, children: Teri and Tracy Hansen both of Omaha, Neb., Step-children: Tracy Foster of Ord, Neb., and Sidnee Reinsch of Henderson, Neb., 4 grandchildren and 5 step-grandchildren, 2 brothers: Rollie Hansen of Cedar Creek, Neb., and Steve Hansen of Omaha, Neb., a sister: Alison Hansen of Denver, Colo., and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Kenneth, his mother Evelyn, and a sister-in-law Jeanne Hansen. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to the family for designation to a charity in the future.
