Benson (Ben) Mayo Gould left this world for his next adventure on Friday, December 4, 2015.
He was born into this world on April 6, 1946 to Maurice Welford Gould and Edith Benson in Biddeford, Maine. He lived in Kennebunk and Kennebunkport, Maine, most of his life, before moving to Durango, Colorado in 1992.
He was a professional painting contractor and was known for his meticulous craftsmanship and his old fashioned values.
His passion in life was fishing; he did bass fishing in Maine and fly fishing in Colorado. He loved the water and was most peaceful on it.
He married his high school sweetheart, Jane (Montoya) Gould, after reconnecting at their 25th high school reunion. They just attended their 50th reunion in June of last year. Everyone marveled at how handsome and fit Ben looked.
He was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in January of this year and then later with platelet cell leukemia, which essentially ended his life. It seemed like he could never catch a break through his whole diagnosis ordeal, and yet he remained positive, happy, and most of all, loving and caring throughout the year.
He is survived by the love of his life, Jane Gould, his other love, his son, Cyrus Gould, his sister, Mindy McKay and his brother, Bill Gould along with many cousins.
He will forever live in the hearts of those who knew him as the most gentle, polite and, sensitive man one could ever have the pleasure of knowing.
