Kathleen Gomez

Kathleen T. “Kata” Gomez, 47, died Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center in Durango, Colo., due to natural causes. A rosary will be held at St. Peter-St. Rosa Catholic Church on Friday at 6:00 p.m. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, April 13, 2013, at 10:00 A.M. also at St. Peter - St. Rosa Catholic Church in Arboles, Colo. Cremation will occur at Hood Mortuary Crematory. Burial of cremated remains will follow the Mass at Rosa Cemetery. Miss Gomez was born November 23, 1965, in Durango, Colo., the daughter of Teodoro and Genevieve Gomez. She grew up in Ignacio and graduated from Ignacio High School. Kata loved to dance and she loved her nephews and nieces. She also enjoyed partying with family and friends, and Spanish music. No one was a stranger to Kata. She is survived by her siblings: Ted Gomez, Jr., Inez Martinez, Mike Gomez, Dolores Gomez, and Marie Howe of Ignacio, Colo., Leora Bostick of Aztec, N.M., and Frank Gomez of San Jose, Calif.; her companion: Jackson Payne of Ignacio, 15 nephews and nieces, 26 great nephews and nieces, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and in-laws. Kata is preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, several nieces, and numerous aunts and uncles.
