Gloria Dawn Girard, 85, passed away on April 12, 2015 at The Hospice of the Valley - Gardner Home in Phoenix, Arizona. She was born on March 1, 1930 in Pueblo, Colorado to Sarah and Leslie Burrows.
Gloria grew up in Durango, Colorado. She graduated from Durango High School in 1948. Among other jobs, she worked as a switchboard operator for Bell Telephone Company for several years.
Gloria married Joe Fred Girard in 1951 in Durango, Colorado. They had been married for 63 years. Gloria prided herself as a most loving, stay at home mom. Her personal hobbies included interior design and fashion. Among her many other interests were tennis, hiking, camping, boating, water skiing, snow skiing and traveling across the globe. She also had many social gatherings at their home and other areas for business, social and family gatherings.
After retirement, they moved to Sun City West, Arizona, where they resided for 25 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sarah and Leslie Burrows of Durango, Colorado, her grandson Nickolas Florek of Las Vegas, Nevada, and her brothers and sisters, Anita Masterson, Bon Bon Burton, Buddy Burrows, Hank Burrows, Jake Burrows, June Burrows, Lawrence Burrows, and Leon Burrows.
Gloria is survived by her son Grant (Nancy) Girard of Phoenix, Arizona, and her daughter Debbie Girard of Las Vegas, Nevada along with many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
We all feel a great sadness by her passing.
