Kristine Williams Gilleland, 75, died Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at home in Durango, Colorado. A Funeral Service will be Monday, January 20, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Bayfield, Colorado (1690 Hwy 160 B, Bayfield, CO 81122). Mrs. Gilleland was born January 14, 1938 in El Paso, Texas the daughter of Clarence and Susan Williams. She grew up in Texas, Arizona, old Mexico. Kristine served an LDS mission in California. She met and married her cowboy, Jack Gilleland on June 2, 1962 in Wellton, Arizona. They made their home in Ignacio Colorado for forty years together. She spent her life serving in the Church and the community. Jack and Kristine built C&J Gravel together in La Plata County and she helped with the bookkeeping. But the most important thing she built was her family. Her favorite thing was hosting friends and family at their ranch. No one was a stranger when they were at her home. After her beloved Jack passed, she moved to the Durango area to be closer to her grandchildren where she would live for 7 years. She is survived by her sons: John Gilleland of Durango, and Kip Gilleland of Gilbert, Ariz., daughters: Jan Sweetin of Ignacio, Donna Ralston of Camp Verde, Ariz., and Jackie Goodenberger of Pagosa Spring, Colo., sisters: Ora Kintz of Carefree, Ariz., and Johnnie Dickson of Mesa, Ariz., many adoring grandchildren and great-granchildren, nieces and nephews, and her special dog, Chewy. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack, sister: Davie Williams, brothers: Clarence, Tony and Bobby Williams. While she will be missed dearly, we are happy knowing of the joyous reunion she is having with her cowboy.
