Billie J. Gibson Sr.
Billie Joe Gibson, Sr., 78, died Tuesday, December 4, 2012, in Durango, Colo. A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday, December 13, 2012, at Hood Mortuary Chapel in Durango.
Mr. Gibson, Sr. was born July 31, 1934 in Flippin, Ark., the son of Walter and Fern Gibson. He served in the Marines during the Korean War. He was a farmer and security officer.
Billie was an avid outdoorsman – enjoying fishing and hunting. He was known as a “Jack of All Trades” and could fix almost anything.
“He was very caring and loving and special in many ways,” remembers his wife, Jewell, and his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Jewell Gibson, of Durango; children: Pamela Gibson of Durango, Galen Gibson of Evergreen, Colo., Daniel Gibson of Englewood, Colo., Billie Gibson, Jr., of Broomfield, Colo., and Robert Gibson of Denver, Colo.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by siblings Walter Leslie Gibson, Jr., Lena Paplin, Georgia Lee Kelley, May Briggs, Joy Childs, Carlus Gibson, an infant brother, Wayne, Thelma Methvin, and his parents.
