What do you say about the best human you ever knew in such a short paragraph? Other than thank you Mom for giving us the best mom, grandma, and GG, we could ever have.
You taught us empathy and love and how to care, sometimes too much. You taught us that family is always worth fighting for and that family isn't always blood. You taught us the magic of childhood and patience, You taught us so much more than I can possibly write, but the one thing you didn't teach us, was how to live the rest of this life without you.Georgianna Rose Bakotich was born Aug 26, 1950 to Marcel and Carmen Bakotich in San Pedro, CA. She was 3rd of five children all raised in San Pedro.
Georgie met Frank McAteer when they both worked for a cab company. They married Sept 23, 1970. Frank and Georgie had their 1st daughter, Amie, Nov. of 1975 and moved from San Pedro, CA to Bayfield, CO in 1976. Frank worked for the La Plata County Sheriff’s Office where he reached the rank of Sergeant. In April 1980 the couple's 2nd daughter, Casie, was born. July 1981, tragedy struck when Frank was killed in the line of duty.
Georgie taught herself to cook and excelled at it. She made most everything from scratch. She'd use every spoon, pot, and pan, and make a mess, but her cooking was always wonderful.
She met Leroy Wall in 1987 and they have been together since.
In Jan, 2000 Georgie witnessed the birth of her first grandchild, Julian. Georgie loved being a grandma. In 2004 she witnessed her second grandchild Luke's birth. She was very proud to be the first to hold him. In 2005, Georgie and family waited for the birth of her first granddaughter Carmen Rose. Carmen Rose was Georgie's namesake.
Georgie babysat her grandchildren while Amie and Casie worked, because she couldn't stand the thought of them being with anyone that didn't love them.
Georgie's world was her family. In 2021 Georgie became a great grandma to Dutch and again in 2024 to Oaklynn.
Georgie dedicated her life to her family. She kept up with traditions and we had family meals often. She loved photography, good coffee, time with family and close friends, holidays, cooking, good food, and the comforts of life.
Georgianna is survived by her life partner Leroy Wall, two daughters, Amie (Jarod) Emerson and Casie McAteer, two grandsons, Julian (Kendra) McAteer, Luke McAteer, 2 great grandchildren, Dutch and Oaklynn McAteer. 2 siblings, Marcey (Lee) Larson, Steven (SandyJo) Bakotich, As well as numerous nieces and nephews and extended family.
