Obituary for John R. Gary
John Rees Gary died Friday, July 1, 2011, at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Durango. He was 70.
Mr. Gary was born September 19, 1940, in Kansas City, Mo., son of Arthur and Harriette (Rees) Gary. He grew up in Illinois, and he enjoyed playing golf in high school and college. Mr. Gary served in the Army in Europe, and later he worked as a municipal securities bond trader.
A Durango resident for eight years, he was an active member of the V.F.W. and American Legion. “He was liked and loved by everyone,” said his brother Mark Gary. Mark suggests friends have a drink in John’s memory.
Mr. Gary is survived by his brother Mark Gary of Loveland, Colo.; and his daughter Suzanne Gary of St. Martin, Bahamas.
