Gary Don Anglin

Gary Don Anglin, known to many as Cowboy, died August 30, 2024, in Pagosa Springs, Colorado. He was born February 13, 1947, to Don and Minnie Jo "Jody" Anglin in Wheeler, Texas. His sister, Pam, was thrilled to have him join their family. She loved him so much she even let him cut teeth on her chin. He had an older half-brother Stewart Anglin. He married Debbie Parker and they had a wonderful daughter Erin Laree who was the light of his life. Erin had two children Declan and Paisley. He loved being their Papa. He had 2 nieces, Jo Kitsmiller and Cissi Wood. He stepped up to be their extra dad. He had fun adventures with them and listened to their joys, problems and dreams. He came by the nickname Cowboy while in high school because he rodeoed many weekends every summer and team roped with his dad for many years. During his rodeo days, he calf roped, team roped and steer wrestled. He loved his horses especially one called Big Red. He played high school football at Sanger High School in Sanger, California. His buddies were Mike Winter, Dave Bohannon and Mike Crawford. Over the years, Gary developed many good friends including Bud Elrod, DeeDee Black, his cousin Kenneth Meek and his first wife Marnie Reynolds and others too numerous to mention. He was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Pagosa Springs. He loved his Savior Jesus Christ. While still in high school he learned to tool leather and went on from that to building custom western saddles. He was truly an artist developing new floral patterns stamped in leather. Gary was a master of telling stories and making folks laugh. He was predeceased by both of his parents, his sister Pamela Jo Kitsmiller and his brother Stew, great niece, Juli Wood. He is survived by his daughter Erin and her husband Ryan Bowers, grandchildren Declan and Paisley Bowers. He is also survived by his nieces Jo Kitsmiller and Cissi Wood, his good friend and cousin Kenneth Meek, as well as many cousins and dear friends.
