Obituary for
Dorothy E. Gardner
Durango native Dorothy Evelyn Gardner died Tuesday, June 14, 2011, in Durango. She was 82.
Mrs. Gardner was born to Fred and Ruth McLaughlin on Dec. 5, 1928, in Durango. She was one of seven children. She grew up in Durango and graduated from Durango High School.
After marrying, Mrs. Gardner left Durango and returned about 20 years ago. She worked for several years as a decontamination specialist, setting up surgical trays in operating rooms, at Maricopa County Regional Medical Center in Phoenix.
She was a member of Calvary Chapel in Durango.
Her favorite pastimes were swimming, reading and working crossword puzzles.
Mrs. Gardner is survived by her sons Kim Gardner of Phoenix and Bill Gardner of San Jose, Calif.; daughter, Tommie Sue Chideckel, of La Habra, Calif.; sister Eleanor Wildes of Jacksonville, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, June 19, 2011, at Rotary Park, behind the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No, 4031, in the 1500 block of Main Avenue.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Calvary Chapel, 1911 Main Ave., Durango, CO 81301.
