Obituary for Jaxon James Formea

Ignacio resident, Jaxon James Formea, died Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at Colorado Children's Hospital in Aurora due to complications from a bone marrow transplant. He had a rare bone disease called osteopetrosis. He was 2 years and 10 days old.

He was born to Jim and Tabitha Formea on August 18, 2010, in Durango, Colo.

Jaxon was a bright shining star who touched everyone he met. All the "ladies" loved his big beautiful eyes and bright personality. He was considered a "superstar" at Children's Hospital. He was always smiling no matter how sick he got. Jaxon loved music, shaking his "booty", acting like "The Incredible Hulk", listening to stories, playing with the lights and riding in his little car. His favorite foods were apples, macaroni and cheese and Cheetos. He loved walking around bare foot and wearing hats, especially his Dada's Denver Broncos hat. Jaxon lived life the way he wanted to and did things the way he wanted to. He was a true fighter all the way to the end.

He is preceded in death by his great-grandparents: Juanito and Macedonia Lucero.

He is survived by his parents: Jim E. and Tabitha Formea of Ignacio. Grandparents: Ron and Sarah Thompson of Bayfield, Jim and Florence Formea of Ignacio. Great Grandparents: John and Dorothy Formea of Albuquerque, NM and Isabel Kitsale of Phoenix, AZ. Aunts and Uncles: Elisha Thompson of Bayfield, Christine Formea and Peter Crowley of Rochester, MN, Jim Thompson of Phoenix, AZ and Chuck and Kelly Thompson of Ignacio, CO and numerous great-aunts and uncles and cousins.

A rosary will be recited on Thursday, September 6, 2012 at 6:30 p.m. at St. Ignatius Catholic Church. A Funeral Mass will follow on Friday, September 7, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. also at St. Ignatius Catholic Church. Father Douglas Hunt will be officiating. Burial will occur at Pine River Cemetery in Bayfield.
