Mary Ellen Foreman of Durango passed away peacefully at her home, May 11th, 2015. She was 87.
Mary was born March 30, 1928, in Malvern, AR, to Henry C. and Perlin (Thayer) Hartje. She grew up in Conway, and graduated High School in Conway. She attended Arkansas State Teacher's College. While in college, she met William "Bill" Foreman when he returned home from his service in WWII. They were married June 10, 1946 at the First Presbyterian Church in Conway.
Due to Bill's career with Montgomery Ward's, the family was transferred to many cities such as Houston, TX, Beaumont, TX, Greenville, TX, Greenville, SC, Denver, CO, and eventually to Durango in 1968 where he managed this location.
Bill and Mary own and operate The Source Connection Furniture store in Durango. Mary was a resourceful and exceptional homemaker and business colleague. She was an avid and active volunteer at First Presbyterian Church in Durango, having served as an elder and the church secretary.
Mary loved to garden both her beautiful flowers and vegetables. Her heart led her to support various church charities, specifically donating to children in 3rd world countries. She was a devoted wife and mother and was skilled at handcrafting gifts for her family.
Mary is survived by her husband, William Foreman Sr., children: Ron (Kim) Foreman of Farmington, NM, Liz (Larry) Hutton of Tulsa, OK, and Becky (Glen) King of Durango, 8 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, brother: Robert Hartje of Oak Ridge, TN, and sister: Katherine Satterfield of Conway.
She is preceded in death by her parents, a beloved son: Bill Foreman, Jr., and a brother: H.C. Hartje.
A service will be held at 2:00pm, Friday, May 15th, at First Presbyterian Church, Durango, CO. Burial will take place at Greenmount Cemetery.
