Jane Ford passed away on March 20, 2022, at Mercy Hospice House in Durango, CO. She was 93 years old. Jane was born as Billie Jane Mayberry to Landon Crawford Mayberry and Anna (Bolton) Mayberry outside of Seymour, TX on February 19, 1929. She was the sixth of seven children. The family moved to Hagerman, NM before she was a teenager. On June 15, 1946 she married her high school sweetheart, Joe D. Ford, when they eloped to Pecos, TX.
Joe and Jane were married for 75+ years and raised four children. They lived in Portales, NM where Joe attended college, Aztec, NM and eventually to Vallecito Lake in 1972 where they lived until 1994 when they moved south to Bayfield. As they both approached their mid-90s, they moved into Evenings Porch Assisted Living facility in Bayfield.
Jane was a homemaker and mother, first and foremost. She directed the family spiritual needs and values for most of her life.
She is survived by Joe, and her four children Janie Ann Volkert of Farmington, Dan (Cyndee) Ford of Bayfield, Debbie (Butch) McCormack of Norman, OK, Joe Scott (Lynn) Ford of Albuquerque. She leaves behind seven grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
She was the last of her six brothers and sister and is survived in that generation by three sisters-in-law. A graveside service is planned for Saturday at the Pine River Cemetery in Bayfield, 2:00pm, March 26, 2022.
