Charles Walden "Charlie" Folsom
Charles Walden Folsom, 92, was called home to Jesus, December 19, 2013. He was born to Wade and Pearl Folsom on June 8, 1921. Charlie, as he was known, married Iris Ruenette Sanders on March 27, 1944. Together, they raised three sons, Charles Ivan Folsom of Durango, Lane Folsom of Hesperus, Colorado and Cody Folsom of Port Orchard, Washington. In addition to his sons, he is dearly missed by his wife of almost 70 years, Iris Ruenette Folsom of Durango, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, a brother Gene Folsom of Cortez, Colorado, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Charlie was a hard worker and enjoyed working in the timber industry. He hauled uranium ore that went into making the atom bomb. He loved the outdoors and worked on the Folsom Ranch. Charlie also was a fireman on the Durango Narrow Gauge Railroad, and he transported drill pipe for the oil fields in New Mexico. He built three houses one of which has been his home for the last 35 years and he retired in 1983. Services will be announce for a time next spring.
