Eurma Glee Batchelor passed away on October 21, 2022 peacefully in her sleep, at 91 years of age. She was born in Cortez, CO on March 3, 1931 to Hubert W. and Jenny Samson where she grew up with her sisters and brother.
Eurma went to school in Cortez and took some college courses at Fort Lewis College in Hesperus, CO where she also worked in the cafeteria.
On November 23,1950 Eurma married her loving husband Herbert Batchelor in Aztec, NM at the Justice of the Peace. They built a life together in Durango, CO where they raised their son, Denver Batchelor. Eurma worked at several local businesses including Andrew's Safety Service, COD Laundry, Poor Boy Drive In, and Mountain Bell Phone Company. After retiring from the phone company, Eurma opened the family auto parts business, Auto Parts Palace, with her husband and son.
Eurma was involved in many organizations in Durango. She was a Colorado Rangerette, worked with the Appaloosa Horse Club, San Juan Horse Association, and Quarter Horse Club, served with the American Red Cross Disaster Services as a volunteer, and was involved in the La Plata County Fair as well. She enjoyed being outdoors, liked to sew, quilt, and crochet, and to spend time with her family playing cards.
Eurma is survived by her husband Herbert Batchelor, son Denver (Cheryl) Batchelor, granddaughter Jerri (Michael) Heffernan, grandson Cody (Jennifer) Batchelor, and three great grandchildren (Granger, Macyn, and Koda). She also is survived by one sister, her brother, and multiple nieces and nephews.
