Eric Adam Winig (51) died at his residence near Durango, Colorado, in February. He was survived by his former spouse, Jennifer, their children Benjamin and Gabriella, and black lab Morgan of Maryland, along with his brothers, Andrew and Steven, of Massachusetts. Eric was predeceased by his mother and father, Maxine and Paul.
Eric was born in Biloxi, Mississippi, grew up in Brookline, Massachusetts, and graduated from Syracuse University with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy. He worked in building products sales and as a Territory Manager at PrimeSource, Inc. of Atlanta, Georgia, before receiving an MBA in Finance from Georgia State University.
After moving to the Washington, DC area, Eric covered the local finance industry as the Capital and Finance Reporter at the Washington Business Journal before becoming a Managing Director at the investment firm Cambridge Associates in Arlington, Virginia. He served on the board of directors of his community swim club, founded and published a financial newsletter, and worked at a local seafood and bakery market.
Eric was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling, time outdoors, and playing poker with his friends.
His family encourages anyone struggling with substance abuse or mental health conditions to seek support and treatment. Donations to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention or similar organizations are appreciated instead of cards or flowers.
