Vivian Elaine Emrich (Muench)
Vivian Elaine Emrich, 84, died Tuesday, July 16, 2013, in Durango, Colo., due to a short fight with cancer. A Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 26, 2013, at the First United Methodist Church in Durango. Mrs. Emrich was born June 14, 1929, in Columbus, Ohio, the daughter of Frederic and Vera Muench. She grew up in Columbus and attended Upper Arlington High School. She graduated from Ohio State University where she met her devoted husband, Harold. They were married on November 26, 1952, in Columbus and have been happily married for 60 years. The couple moved to Denver, where they raised their family. During their 35 years in Denver, Vivian established many wonderful friendships and was involved with P.E.O., Delta Gamma Alumni, the Methodist Church, and the American Association of University Women. Before moving to Durango they lived for a short time in Salt Lake City, Utah, and Southern California. They moved to Durango in 1994, and remained active at the Durango First United Methodist Church. Vivian remained active in P.E.O. and she was also an active volunteer with Hospice of Mercy. Vivian enjoyed attending Music in the Mountains, playing bridge, gardening and most importantly spending time with family. She is survived by her husband, Harold, of Durango; children: Steve Emrich of Durango, Sandy Emrich-Brock of Denver, Scott Emrich of Durango, and Sue Otten of Denver; sisters: Mitzi Sipe of Elkhart, Indiana, and Freda Harris of Timonium, Maryland; eight grandsons and one great-grandson. She was preceded in death by a brother William Muench and her parents.
