Obituary for Mary Beth Edwards

Former Bayfield resident Mary Beth Edwards died September 17, 2012, at her home of natural causes. She was born in Morgan, Utah, on April 9, 1942, to Louis Edwards Bates and Bertha Laverne Bates. She married Harvey Edwards from Blytheville, Arkansas, in 1970. He preceded her in death on April 11, 1998.

She has lived in Durango for 14 years where she had been a member of Mountain View Community Church where she worships her Savior, Jesus Christ. She attended Heneger Business College, graduating in 1962. She has worked for the IRS, Hill AFB and for Navy Supply in San Diego. When arriving in Durango she worked briefly with people with disabilities.

She always had a smile for anyone she met as well as a sweet childlike spirit about her. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. Her hobbies were puzzles of all sorts from jigsaw to crossword. She also enjoyed cruising around Durango on day trips.

She is survived by her four children: Carolyn Murga of Bayfield, Joann Anderson of Springfield, Ill., Harvey Edwards and Randy Edwards of Pahrump, Nev., and nine grandchildren: Bethany, Katelynn, Ariel, Aurora, Brittany, Robert, Rachel, Laura and Joseph. She is also survived by her sisters; Mrs. Alfred Laverne Weger and Joann Bates, both of Ogden, Utah.

Burial will be held at Pine River Cemetery in Bayfield at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 29, 2012. Memorial services will conclude at the First Baptist Church of Bayfield following burial. Pastor Barry Mooney for Mountain View Community Church will be officiating.
