We regret to announce the passing of our beloved Karen Renee Edmonds. She passed peacefully to her eternal home on Friday October 29, 2021. Karen was born in Garden Grove, California on April 24, 1963 to John Morton Motter and Edna Ruth Motter. At the approximate age of 7 years Karen and her family moved to Colorado Springs, CO until her early teen years when she moved to Pagosa Springs, CO to live with her father. At the age of 17 Karen joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Karen served a church mission to Paris, France when she was 21 years of age. While serving a mission in France she gained a great love for the United States of America listening to stories told by the French people of the liberation of France from German occupation during World War 2. She graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor’s degree in English. Karen married G. Bruce Edmonds in the Manti Utah Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on May 5, 1989. Karen and Bruce have resided in Bayfield, CO for 24 years. They have been married for 33 years. Karen is the mother of two daughters Alyssa Renee Edmonds and Lydia Annabelle Edmonds. She also authored two books in a planned four book historical series called "Shining City On A Hill." Book one is titled "Priests and Plowboys" and Book 2 is titled "Fanning the Flames." Karen spent years researching the Reformation and took numerous trips to Europe to learn about the Reformers in the 15th and 16th centuries of which her books highlight in graphic detail. Karen put her whole heart and soul into raising her two daughters. She was a beloved wife, mother and sister.
Karen loved her San Juan mountains located in Southwest Colorado. She enjoyed hiking, camping and mountain biking with her family.
Karen is survived by her husband Bruce Edmonds, daughters Alyssa and Lydia Edmonds, father John Motter, brother and sister Steve and Neola Motter, stepmother Vicky Motter and brothers and sisters Scott and Terri Cunningham, Matt and MillieAnne Cunningham and Holly and Mark Everett.
Karen was preceded in death by her mother Edna Ruth Motter.
"What A Beautiful Life Services" will be held on Friday November 5, 2021 at the Bayfield CO Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 11:00am. The chapel is located at 2011 US Hwy 160B Bayfield, CO 81122.
