Obituary for
Helen C. Dunlap
Helen Colleen Dunlap, 87, died of natural causes Wednesday, November 23, 2011, at Four Corners Nursing home in Durango, Colo.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, December 9, 2011, at Hood Mortuary Chapel. Keith Dickinson will officiate.
Ms. Dunlap was born July 13, 1924, in Dolores, Colo., to William Wesley and Leota Dunlap. She attended Dolores and Cortez schools and moved to Durango in 1946.
Ms. Dunlap worked as a babysitter for many families in Durango and loved every moment of her time doing so. She enjoyed in later years attending many local Durango events. She also loved to attend the movies and listen to Durango High School and Fort Lewis College sports broadcast on her radio. Oh, and don't forget her love of a good bingo game once she became a full time resident of Four Corners Nursing Home.
She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and all their families located locally as well as across the country.
She was preceded in death by her parents William Wesley and Leota Dunlap; and her siblings, Milton Dunlap, Pete Dunlap, Velma Thompson, and Margaret "Peggy" Akin.
