After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Kristen Rummer Dugan passed away on September 14, 2016 in Durango, CO at the age of 45. She leaves behind her husband, Jeremy Dugan; and her sons, Ryan and Tyler Dugan.
Kristen was born on November 26th, 1970 in Phoenix, AZ to father Bill Rummer and mother Diana Jarvis. As a child, Kristen was a competitive gymnast, dedicating much of her time to the Desert Devils gymnastics team. She graduated from Saguaro High School in Scottsdale, AZ.
After high school, Kristen moved to northern California to pursue her passion for snowboarding. In 1996 she won the USASA women's national championship. Having accomplished her dream of becoming a professional snowboarder, Kristen went back to school and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Northern Arizona University.
Kristen met her husband, Jeremy, in West Virginia where they were working as river guides. Sharing a deep love for adventure and each other, they moved to the southwest and started a family. She was a loving mother and shared her passion for the outdoors with her children.
Kristen is survived by her husband, parents, sister Suzi Lawson and niece Madison Lawson as well as numerous cousins.
A service will be held Tuesday September 27th, at 6pm at the Fort Lewis College Ballroom in the Student Union building. A reception will follow at First United Methodist Church. All are welcome. The family will have a private interment of Kristen's cremains at Greenmount Cemetery at a later date. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to a family assistance account at The Bank of Colorado. The family would like to thank the countless families, friends and organizations that have helped along the way.
