Ronald Everett Dowler
Ronald Everett Dowler, 70, died at home Saturday, January 5, 2013, in Durango. The cause of death is unknown at this time.
Mr. Dowler was born to Jacob and Opal Dowler on January 12, 1942, at Mercy Hospital in Durango. He graduated from Durango High School. Mr. Dowler lived his entire life in the Durango/ Sunnyside/ Hesperus area.
On November 19, 1961, he married Donna Anderson, who passed away November 9, 2012. They had a son and a daughter. Mr. Dowler worked 32 years at the Colorado Department of Transportation and supplemented his income as a ferrier and working Joe Hotter's farm.
According to his family, "He loved hunting, family gatherings, farming and ranching and he helped with the Young American Bowlers' Association."
Mr. Dowler was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Anderson Dowler. His sister, Shirley Short, died earlier the same day in Durango.
Mr. Dowler is survived by his son, Duane Dowler, of Durango; daughter, Karey DeMarte, of Westminster, Colo.; brother, Dean Dowler, of Durango; sister, Reola Melanson, of Yorktown, Texas; four grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
The family will hold a private service.
