Ruth Dove

Ruth passed peacefully from this life the evening of October 10, 2014. She was 91 years old. She was born Ruth Mae Dilley on May 20, 1923 in Bennet, NE to Frank E. Dilley and Retta May (Jones) Dilley, and moved to Spearville, KS in a covered wagon in 1925. At age 18, shortly after graduating high school in Spearville, she met and married Lucher Tine Dove on August 2, 1941. They resided in Texas, Arkansas and New Mexico. After Luke’s death in 1967 in Logan, NM, she moved to Durango, CO where she worked for Dr. Thomas McCulloch until her retirement. In 1991, she moved to Farmington, NM in order to be closer to her daughter’s family.
Ruth is survived by her daughter Kathy Kennedy (Steve) of Farmington, NM and her son Steve (Zoop) Dove (Maeona) of Texas, seven grandchildren: MaKaila Kennedy of Farmington, Morgan Kennedy of Albuquerque, John Pruitt-Dove (Suzie) of Salisbury, NC, Natasha Dove and Danielle Dove Dean (Bryan) of Denver, CO, Casey Dove of Texas and Cody Dove; six great-grandchildren Allysa Pruitt Gooden (Tevie) of KY, Brynn Pruitt Disseler (Ryan) of NC, Chase Pruitt (Dove) of NC, Kaemon Vita of Denver, Bryson & Colton Dean of Denver; and two great-grandsons Dane & Cooper Gooden of KY. She was overjoyed to be able to welcome the Pruitt-Dove descendants into her heart in December of 2013 after 50 years of not knowing them.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters, three brothers, numerous nieces and nephews, and her beloved son Clifford Cecil (Chip) Dove. She never truly got over the loss of her son Chip and grieved for him the rest of her life however that grief was lifted by the gift of his long lost son John. With her passing, comes the end of a generation on both her side and her husband’s side.
Services will be held on October 25 at 10:00 a.m. at the Marvel United Methodist Church with interment at Greenmount Cemetery. A reception will follow at Marvel United Methodist Church.
