On December 15, 2021, Jo Alene Dobbins, a loving wife and mother of two children passed away at the age of 80.
Jo was born on September 9, 1941, in St. Francisville, LA, to Clayton and Alene Rutledge. After spending her youth in Louisiana, Jo attended Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana. In 1975 she met the love of her life, Marvin Dobbins of Durango, CO, and married him on February 15, 1976. Together they raised one daughter, Amy, and one son, Pat.
Jo treasured her faith and was an active member of First Baptist Church of Durango. She never failed to lend a hand to those in need and treasured her family, friends and church family. She had a passion for Gospel music, flower gardening and bird watching. She also loved to dance, especially the jitterbug.
Jo was a wonderful mother and amazing wife. She is survived by her husband Marvin, daughter Amy, son Patrick, grandsons Finn and Nick, sister Beverly, and brother Fenton. Her wit, good humor and loving spirit will be sorely missed. We love you Jo, Mom, Grammy.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In her memory, donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Durango or to Hospice of Mercy.
