Connie M. Demsko
Longtime Bayfield resident Connie M. Demsko, passed away Friday, May 4, 2012, at her home after a long battle with cancer. She was 79.
Connie was born May 15, 1932, in Ranshaw, PA, the daughter of Stanley and Verna Janaski. She attended St. Anthony grade school and Coal Township High School. She married Thomas W. Demsko, Sr., on July 25, 1953, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Ranshaw. In 1956, they moved to Southern California where they raised four children. In 1993, Tom and Connie made the decision to return to small town living and relocated to Bayfield, CO. Connie discovered St. Bart's Catholic Church soon after arriving in town and cherished the many friends she made there. She also enjoyed crocheting, needlepoint, reading and playing the occasional round of golf with her husband. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing traditional meals for family holiday gatherings. Connie never met a stranger...everyone became her friend and she always found the goodness in those she encountered.
Connie was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas, in 2007. She is survived by son, Thomas Demsko, Jr., of Bayfield, daughters Terri Wise and her husband, Michael, of Durango, Denise Demsko of Bayfield, and Kathi Webster of Mission Viejo, CA. She is also survived by her grandchildren Jeff Wise of Reno, NV, Brandi Demsko of Costa Mesa, CA, Ryan Demsko of La Mirada, CA, and Travis Webster of Mission Viejo, CA.
A memorial service will be held at St. Bartholomew's Catholic Church in Bayfield at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 15, 2012, which would have been Connie's 80th birthday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Home Health and Hospice, 1 Mercado Street, Suite 270, Durango, CO.
