Obituary for
David R. Demarest
David Roy Demarest, 55, died Monday, January 7, 2013, in Durango, Colo. A reception celebrating his life will be held at Hood Mortuary at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 12, 2013, and all are welcome.
Mr. Demarest was born June 29, 1957, in Los Angeles, the son of John and Patricia Demarest. David grew up and worked in California and moved to Durango in 1980. While in Durango he was an alcohol abuse counselor at the county detoxification facility; he was an electrician and worked at the Silverton Mill Works at Animas Air Park.
He was most proud and captivated with his granddaughters and daughter.
“He was a friend to so many, he had a good heart and those who knew him would say that he loved his granddaughters so much. They meant everything to him,” said his daughter, Paige.
He is survived by his daughter, Paige Berry of Raleigh, N.C., a son, Josh Demarest of Columbus, Ohio; siblings: Darla Codling of Atlanta, Ga., John Demarest of Durango, and Jim Demarest of Boise, Idaho; and granddaughters: Ariane and Jacklynn Berry, and Chelsea Demarest.
In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted at Hood Mortuary to offset funeral expenses.
