George Ernest Davis, Jr., of Durango passed away April 28th, 2015 at home in Durango. He was 62.
George was born May 18th, 1952 in Durango, CO to Bessie Davis and George Davis, Sr. He grew up in Durango and graduated in 1970 from Durango High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army during Vietnam and served as a mechanic. He was stationed at Ft. Carson after being trained at Ft. Ord, California.
Upon his discharge, George began working and honing his skills as a heavy equipment operator for oil and gas pipe-lining in Colorado, Wyoming, Kansas, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. George's specialty was operating a backhoe - he was a true artist with this machine.
He is survived by siblings: Melba Davis, Barbara Glass, Elizabeth Reid and Robbie Davis, Son: George Clennin, Grandson: Gavin Clennin, a granddaughter Hailey Clennin, nieces and nephews: Caroline Hedman, Sara Glass, Merilee Glass, Mindy Davis, Tyler Davis, Amanda Davis, Travis Reid, and Brandon Reid, and extended family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be held at Hood Mortuary on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 10:00am, with burial to follow at Florida Cemetery.
