John David Cunningham
John David Cunningham, 73, died Saturday, November 8, 2014 in Farmington, N.M., surrounded by friends and family. A celebration of John’s life and influence will be held at the Breen Grange hall in Breen, CO., at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 29, 2014.
John was born June 28, 1941, in Clarence, Missouri. He grew up in Johnson County Kansas and attended Greenwood schools. His graduating class was the last 8th grade class to graduate from high school. John graduated from Shawnee Misson North High School in 1959. He attended college in Kansas and graduated as a Journeyman Electrician. He enlisted with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (I.B.E.W.) union and began working in that trade. He met Ora in Mission, Kansas and they have been together for 47 years. Their adventures took them from Kansas to New Orleans. They finally settled down when they had their daughter, Kelly. John moved the family to Farmington, N.M., where he worked for the Power Plant. In 1979 John and Ora bought their property in Red Mesa, CO., where they made their home.
Survivors include his wife, Ora, daughter, Kelly (Guy) Kemp; Grandchildren, Carli, Waylon, Mathew and Joshua; Siblings, Gary Cunningham, Dennis (Sandi) Cunningham and Carol (Danny) Wise; numerous nieces and nephews and extended family.
In lieu of flowers, there is a fund opened up at Vectra Bank, “John Cunningham Memorial Fund.”
