Obituary for
Florence M. Cundiff
Florence Cundiff, our loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, went to be with her Lord Sunday, November 13, 2011, at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Durango. She was 91.
Florence was born in Bayfield to Siecke and Elmer Willmett on April 26, 1920. She lived her life in the Bayfield/Durango area.
She married Kelly Cundiff January 2, 1934. They had seven children, four boys and three girls. She worked several jobs to supplement the family income. Most of her life she was a homemaker. She loved gardening, quilting, canning, baking and embroidery work.
Florence was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend to those who were blessed enough to be part of her life. Her amazing cooking skills were the heart of family get-togethers. Her homemade zucchini cake or fresh baked cookies would often be given to settle her debts. Her passing will leave a void in many lives. She loved and cared for her family and friends and was always willing to give to those in need. She was a wonderful example to all.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Kelly, and by her sons Kenneth and Stanley, and a baby daughter Ruth.
She is survived by her sister, Olive Bryant of Colorado Springs, Colo.; daughters Melba (Troy) Frame of Marvel, Colo.; and Marie (Clint) Dollar of Aztec, N.M.; sons Johnny (Myra) Cundiff of Lindrith, N.M.; and Wayne (Sharon) Cundiff of Mesa, Ariz. She will be greatly missed by her four children, 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
A funeral will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, November 18, 2011, at Florida Presbyterian Church, with Dan Straw officiating. Burial will occur at Pine River Cemetery. A reception will be held at the church after the service.
