Marie Cordova

Maria Francisca “Frances” Cordova, 89, died Monday, July 11, 2011 at Four Corners Health Care Center in Durango, Colo. A funeral service will be Friday, July 15, 2011 at 11:00 P.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Father Joseph Gallegos of Sacred Heart Catholic Church will be officiating. Burial will occur at Greenmount Cemetery in Durango. A rosary will be recited at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Thursday, July 14, 2011, at 7:00 pm.

Mrs. Cordova was born September 18, 1921 in Silverton, Colorado the daughter of Medardo and Cleotilde Garcia. She married Pablo Archuleta in 1938, who is the father of her eight children. She later married Armadeo Benjamin "Benny" Cordova in 1972. Frances enjoyed dancing, crocheting, playing cards and spending time with her family as well as her friends that were at Four Corners Health Care Center. Frances always held her friends in highest regards, especially her long time friend, Angie Trujillo. She was also a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

She is survived by Medardo Archuleta (son) of Colorado Springs, Colo.; Joe Archuleta (son) of Farmington, N.M.; Eddie Archuleta (son) of Las Vegas, NV, Gilbert Archuleta (son) of Fort Collins, Colo.; Ray Archuleta (son) of Kremlin, Colo.; Pita Gomez (daughter) of Durango, Colo.; 30 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and a handful of great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by both husbands, her brother Fabian Silva, her sister Viola Armenta, her sister Rebecca Garcia, her daughter Phyllis Corralez (formerly of San Clemente, Calif.) and her daughter Ruth Carbajal (formerly of Farmington, N.M.).
