Tina Aaron Corbett, a longtime Durango resident full of life and enthusiasm, died Sunday December 26 in Durango.
Tina leaves behind her beloved husband Tim Corbett, her mother, Natalie Aaron, brother Michael Aaron, sisters Jennifer Smith, and Dawn Eggleston, a niece, nephews and a large circle of dear friends. Tina lived life with a positive attitude and brought her infectious smile and unconditional love to everyone she met.
Tina was born near Washington DC. Her family later moved to the Denver area where she graduated from Green Mountain High School in 1977. She graduated from Fort Lewis College in 1982 and found her professional calling as an early childhood educator where she was a beloved and important role model to her many students as well as the children of family and friends. It was in college that she met the love of her life Tim Corbett. She and Tim called Durango home and they immersed themselves in the great southwest and all things outdoors. She loved skiing, biking, hiking, floating rivers, cooking and was an avid competitor and outdoor athlete. She also loved socializing with her friends, going on adventures, and was fiercely protective of her kitchen. Her personal mantra was simple: to love life and fight hard for your life. She leaves an indelible impression on all who knew her – she was a one of a kind.
Although Tina battled health issues from a young age, she never considered herself a “sick person”. Her strength and resilience allowed her to have the life she wanted in the face of tall obstacles. She jammed a life time worth of travel and adventure into her 56 years. Tina was eternally and deeply grateful to her friend Kelly Rubin and her sister Dawn for their selfless gifts of life to her through kidney donation.
A celebration of life will be held at the Henry Strater Theatre, Friday, January 22 at 5:00pm.
