Janet Lynn Coloff passed away at her home on Monday December 14, 2015. She was wrapped in the arms of her family as she passed into the quiet and peace of falling snow.
Janet was born on July 27, 1952 in Denver, Colorado to Harold Lee Burton and Erma Clare Chesnut. She grew up with her three siblings in Arvada, Colorado. In high school, Janet met her true love and lifelong partner, Jim. After they married, they were drawn to the mountains and community of Durango, CO. where they made their home for more than 40 years. After working several part-time book-keeping positions, she finished her accounting degree at Fort Lewis College in 1991 and worked for 24 years as a C.P.A. Over the years, she cultivated a loving family, beautiful gardens and a joyous home. She expressed two of her greatest joys in life as raising her two daughters and loving her five grandchildren. She also found deep happiness in gardening, sewing, reading, attending church, camping, hiking, and long walks. By her kind, generous, thoughtful nature, she was surrounded by the love of many friends throughout her life.
She is survived by her husband, Jim of 44 years, daughters Kelly and Kendra and her grandchildren Garrin, Weston, Zephir, Raya and Ila. She is also survived by her siblings, Richard, Barbara, and Donna.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday, January 4, 2016, at 2 pm, at The River Church, Durango, CO. If you have not already, we invite you to visit her CaringBridge.org site if you wish to know more about her journey.
