Clarence (Bud) Gohn was 80 years young. Born to Clarence Gohn I and Regina Bennum in Hays, Kansas, on February 15, 1945, Bud came to Durango to attend Fort Lewis College in 1966, when he was discharged from the US Navy.
Here he met Rosie Gurule at the old A&W Root Beer (now Griegos) and they married on March 27, 1967. They have one son Sonny Gohn. Bud worked in many, mostly construction, jobs. Eventually going to work at LPEA from where he retired as a Systems Operator after 25 years.
Bud loved people and he was the best son-in-law, brother-in-law, and all around in-law anyone could ask for. He was there for every one of the Gurule family.
Bud was very handy and could do any job that needed to be done. He was a very young 80 year old designing and building a "She Shed" just 2 years ago at the age of 78.
He was a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge and President of the South Sanitation District Board of Directors.
He loved dancing, and playing poker and slots at any casino.
Bud was proud of what he accomplished in he and Rosie's 58 years of marriage, but he still had so many dreams left to accomplish. If you saw Bud you saw Rosie as there were always together. He kept saying that Ryan Phelps would be there to "pinch his butt" since Ryan would joke with him that way.
Bud passed peacefully and comfortably at Durango's Hospice House where he had the best care we could have asked for. We are so appreciative of the wonderful care he received throughout his illness from the entire Mercy staff and especially from Dr. Jack McMannis and his lovely wife Anand.
We thank so many people for the prayers and support that they showed us during his short illness.
Bud is survived by his wife Rosie, his son Sonny, his grandchildren Hanna, Zachary, and Adam of Sacremento, CA, His brothers John of Phoenix AZ, Dan in Durango, brother-in-law, Carl Beal. His favorite sister-in-law Tina Beal, his brother-in-law Jack Gurule, sister-in-law Candi Gurule and many nieces and nephews. He was "Uncle Buddy" to all his nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Durango. The rosary will be recited at 9:00 a.m. and the Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m.; burial will follow at Greenmount Cemetery. In lieu of flowers we ask for donations to the Mercy Hospice House.
