Sharinda "CeCe" Chavez
Durango resident Sharinda “CeCe” Felocita Chavez died Sunday, January 22, 2012, at her home in Durango, Colo. She was 25.
CeCe was born August 3, 1986, in Ft. Defiance, Ariz., the daughter of Sharon Begay-McCabe and Darold Pete, Sr. CeCe attended Mescalero Apache High School and graduated in 2004. She married the love of her life, Earl David Yazzie, February 14, 2006, in Durango. She attended Fort Lewis College and had worked as a CNA at Sunshine Gardens West.
CeCe loved watching and collecting movies, drawing, painting, listening to music and watching her favorite team, the Denver Broncos. Go Broncos! Her family remembers her as an excellent cook, known for her BBQ and shrimp and chicken al fredo. She enjoyed her two cats.
She is survived by her husband, Earl David Yazzie of Durango, mother Sharon Begay-McCabe, of St. Michael’s, Ariz.; father Darold Pete, Sr., of Beeshbito, Ariz.; brother, Ty Chavez, of Whiskey Creek, Ariz.; sister, Dariqueta Chavez, of California; paternal grandmother, Elba Pete, of Beeshbito, Ariz.; and two nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 24, 2012, at Hood Mortuary Chapel. Burial will take place at the family plot in Whiskey Creek, Arizona, near the foot of Mt. Falling Iron.
