Raymond E. Cavanaugh
Durango resident Raymond E. Cavanaugh died Saturday September 3, 2011 in Durango. He was 80 years old.
Mr. Cavanaugh was born to James Cavanaugh and Josephine (Jones) Cavanaugh on July 26, 1931 in Grand Junction, Colo. His father, James, was a bridge and highway engineer for the State of Colorado. He attended Durango High School and had 5 brothers and 2 sisters.
Mr. Cavanaugh moved to California in the early fifties. He served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1957. He married O’Della (Sullivan) Cavanaugh on August 16, 1958, in Van Nuys, Calif. They lived in Southern California, where he worked as a supervisor and with research and development for Gruber Systems. Mr. Cavanaugh’s job took him to many foreign countries. He retired in 1993 and returned to Colorado where he and his wife built a home in Durango.
He is survived by his wife, O’Della Cavanaugh, and their son, Tim Cavanaugh, both of Durango, a daughter Erin (Cavanaugh) Worden, of Bullhead City, Ariz., grandsons Ron (25) and Jack (20), both of Durango, granddaughter Cassidy Ray Worden (12) of Bullhead City, Ariz., and sister Mary (Cavanaugh) Herting of Durango.
