Obituary for
Gilbert L. "Gil" Carrell
Gil passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 1, 2015, surrounded by family and friends. Born April 21, 1920, he was 95 years young.
Gil was a very kind, loving man. He was very proud for the opportunity to have served his country as a US Marine "Sargent" in World War II. He always enjoyed sharing his stories with anyone that was interested in listening to the great history of his tales. Both of Gil’s brothers, Aubrey and Allen Carrell, served and survived World War II. His brothers and sister, Marie Owen are deceased.
Gil met the love of his life, Louise Marie and married into his new family, August 24, 1973. Louise proceeded him in death in December of 1998. He was the best step-dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa. The "step" status made him so special, as he chose to love each family member with an unconditional love.
Gil is predeceased by his son, Mike Kier, and is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Dorothy & Jesse Tate, Margaret & Joe Simon, and Cathy & Paul Wilson. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Dion Vette, Jill Robbins, Kane &, Nicole Vette, Sanisa & Pat Kissell, Zef & Miranda Valdavinos, Elly Wilson, Jared & Lupita Tate, Nicole Tate, Gunnar & Lindsay Simon, and great-grandchildren; Tristen, Daylen, Aiden, Ashton, Claira, Jacob, Iassic, Titus and Zipporah and Marcus. Gil had numerous friends and will be remembered with a smile.
A Veterans memorial will be held in honor of Gil at his home in Oxford, December 20, 2015 @ 1:00p.m. A celebration of life meal with stories will be served immediately following the service. Dress Warm!
