Carol Ann Maloy-Denbow was born as the sixth child of eight on July 12, 1954 to Joseph and Martha Cundiff. She grew up in La Plata County and graduated from Bayfield High School in 1972. Carol spent years working in a family owned and operated restaurant. She went to beauty school and got her cosmetology license which allowed for her to work in salons. She met and married Johnny Maloy and had her daughter Johnette and son Riley. Upon their divorce she moved back home to Bayfield to raise her children. Carol worked at Best Western Mountain Shadows, the Bayfield Grocery Store for many years, and then finally at Fort Lewis College in the dining hall. She also made many specialized cakes for local celebrations and family members. In 2001 she met and married Herman Denbow. They were married until he passed in March 23, 2021. Carol has been blessed to have 4 biological grandchildren and by many to be a second mom and grandmother.
She is proceeded in death by her parents, son Riley, husband Herman, sister Bonnie, and brothers James and Melvin. She is survived by daughter Johnette Maloy, granddaughter Serenity Wood, grandsons Braeden and Dakota Woods, Riley Maloy-Vick, brothers Donnie Cundiff, Dean Cundiff, Eugene Cundiff, sister Charlotte Maitlen, and all of her adopted children, nieces, and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request donations be made to the American Cancer Society in Carol's name. Someone's momma needs to have a chance.
