Carlita Marie Armstrong, “White Dove” native name, was a member of the Southern Ute, and a descendant of Southern Cheyenne and Caddo Nation. She was born on November 22, 1973 and passed away on April 16, 2024. She was a Sundancer, Native American Church Goer, She had a college degree in Business, worked for SUIT and loved POW WOWs and loved her children.
Carlita’s father was Alfred R. Armstrong and her belated mother was Alice MorningStar Elk Groves Neash.
She was brought into the Native American Church as a baby, her baby feet planted. Carlita’s journey began with her children Jessika Dawn Bigleggins, Brandon Weaselboy Bigleggins, Dustin Weaver, Blossom Armstrong, and Kenneth Hayes; grandchildren, Ayden Reid, Noah Lee Daniel, Miles Lee Bigleggins, and JayJay Bigleggins.
Carlita is survived by her sisters, Joyce, Kayle, Kimberly, Alfreda, and Benita; numerous nieces, nephews, and her great grandchildren.
Carlita is preceded in death by her dog, Joe Biden and parents Alice Neash and Alfred R. Armstrong; nephew, Francis Taylor.
She loved the Raiders and liked to go to the casino. Her favorite quote was “Two tears in the bucket, f$!k it”.
A Wake will be held on April 20, 2024 at 5p.m. at 5802 C.R. 521, Ignacio, Colorado. Services for Carlita will be Sunday, April 21, 2024 at 10 a.m. at the Southern Ute Memorial Chapel with burial to follow at Ouray Cemetery. A reception will be held at the Southern Ute Multi-Purpose Room following burial services.
