Norman James Burt
Durango resident Norman James Burt died in his sleep Monday, December 2, 2013 in his Durango home. He was 80 years old. Known as Norm, he was born to James and Violet Burt on November 10, 1933 in McPhee, CO. He was one of four children. He was a Korea Veteran, also in the Durango Police Force and worked in the mental health field for 30 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post #28, in Durango where many stories are still talked about to this day about how giving he was. Norman is survived by his sons, Clifton Burt of San Antonio, TX , and Michael Burt of Edewood, TX, daughters, Michelle (Klein) Hover of Durango, Sharon Bose of San Antonio, TX, and Heidi Burt McLaughlin of San Francisco, CA, 12 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and nieces, Jodi Connell, Houston, Texas, Melodi Gallegos, Durango, Keli Connell, Ignacio and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara, sister, Marva Dean Connell and nephew, Rick Carman. A celebration of life and pot luck will be held at the American Legion Post #28 at 2:00 p.m., Saturday December 7, 2013.
