Obituary for
Milton C. Bruder
Milton Charles Bruder, 84, died Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at Four Corners Health Care Center in Durango, Colo. Cremation will occur at Hood Mortuary Crematory in Durango. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Mr. Bruder was born February 25, 1928, in Rogers City, Michigan, the son of Edward and Agatha Bruder in Roger's City, Mich. He attended St. John's Lutheran school (primary school) in Rogers City and then graduated high school in Midland, Mich. He did attend two years at Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Mich. He enlisted in the United States Navy during WWII and then worked for Dow Corning Corporation for thirty six and one half years. He attended Emanuel Baptist Church in Midland, Mich., and was Pastor of Sanford 1st Baptist Church in Sanford, Mich. He ministered to the sick in nursing homes and in their own homes and to the troubled in jails and prisons.
Milt was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed camping with his family. His favorite was Otsego Lake state park in Gaylord, Mich. He loved swimming, hiking, hunting with his boys and daughter as well as his grandchildren, and he enjoyed teaching them all outdoor skills. He also loved to read a good book. When he and his wife moved to Pagosa Springs, Colo., he continued to hunt for elk and deer with his two sons, Steve and Thomas. He loved the spectacular beauty of Colorado and all it had to offer. "Milt was a gentle Spirit with Love and care for all he was in contact with. He also loved GOD with all of his heart and Milt will be truly missed by all of his family and friends alike," fondly recall his family.
He is survived by Jane Bruder (spouse) of Pagosa Springs, Cynthia Isaacs (daughter) of East Lansing, Mich., Russell Bruder (son) of Olympia, Wash., David Bruder (son) of Pagosa Springs, Steven Bruder (son) of Pagosa Springs, Thomas Bruder (son) of Pagosa Springs, James Bruder (son) of Bay City, Mich., Mr. & Mrs. Jim DeWese (brother-in-law & sister-in-law) of Plainview, Texas, and numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Edward Bruder, his father-in-law, Ed DeWese, his mother-in-law, Ophelia (VanCleve) DeWese, his stepsisters Bea St. Onge, and Pauline Olson.
