Warren “Joe” Brown graduated from this life peacefully August 18th at his Bayfield home with loving family including grandson/caregiver Coltin Duran and wife Bree by his side. Joe was born May 31st 1927, second of two sons to Raymond & Faye Brown in Pagosa Springs. Joe was an avid hunter and fisherman and was always known as a jokester. He accomplished many things in his life including graduating from Fort Lewis College, and Colorado State University. He retired from a career with the Soil Conservation District where he received many awards. He didn’t stay retired very long before going to work as Superintendent for the Pine River Irrigation District. He also served on the Bayfield Town Board. His greatest loves were his family and his callings to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where he served as the Bishop of both the Cortez and Bayfield wards, many years as a temple ordinance worker and many other callings in the church. In his spare time he and Jean (his bride, as he often called her) enjoyed remodeling houses as he was an accomplished and talented carpenter. He was so loved and will be deeply missed by many including the waitresses he gave a hard time, co-workers, those that knew him as "Gramps" and many more, as no one was a stranger. He was preceded in death by the love of his life Naomi Jean Brown, daughters Connie Collett and Twila Brown, one grandchild and one great grandchild. He is survived by children: Bruce Brown OH, Cindy Highland Bayfield, Gary Brown (Mary) Farmington, Terry Lynn Hood AZ, Brad Brown (Lori) Pagosa Springs, Claudia Carter WA, and Christy Duran Bayfield. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and three great-great grandsons.
A private interment will be held at the Pine River Cemetery with open services following at the
