Gerald Brown passed away peacefully at home on June 15, 2021, he was 89.
Gerald Leon Brown was born on November 10, 1931 to Elizabeth and William Brown in Sylvia, Kansas. He married Alberta Hickman in Raton, NM on December 31, 1950. They had 6 children, 17 grandchildren, 34 1/2 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson.
Gerald worked as a farmer from 1945-1957 in Eastern Colorado. In 1957, he moved to Farmington, NM and worked for El Paso Natural Gas until 1995. Gerald loved helping out his neighbors with farming and branding or going fishing and hunting. After retirement, Gerald and Alberta loved to travel. They would travel to see family and friends all over the US and some of Mexico and Canada. He was a family man and loved watching his children and grandchildren in all their activities. He went to their 4-H Fairs, watched football and baseball games, as well as wrestling matches and rodeos.
Gerald is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Alberta; daughters: Cheryl Orris and Kellie Hadden; sister: Virginia Gilley, and grandson: John Hall.
He is survived by his daughters: Glinda (Sam) Phares, Marla (Gary) Segebartt and Sherry (Jeff) Hall; son Terry (Linda) Brown; sister Betty Volker; son-in-laws: David Hadden and Randy Orris; numerous extended family members; many "adopted" children and many good friends, including Mike Moat.
Services will be held at Hood Mortuary at 10 am on Saturday, June 19, 2021, with burial to follow at Greenmount Cemetery.
