Obituary for
John M. Brenner M.d. D.o.
John Maxwell Brenner, D.O., M.D., died Sunday, July 1, 2012, in Bayfield, Colo., following an extended illness. He was 81.
Dr. Brenner was born November 25, 1930, in London, England, to Harold Isaac and Jessie Judith Brenner. He served in the U.S. Army from 1950 through 1952 as a MASH Unit Medic in Korea. He received his Doctor of Osteopathy degree from the College of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons in Irvine, Calif., in 1952. In 1962, he earned a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of California at Irvine.
His professional associations include Senior Aviation Medical Examiner, Civil Aviation Medical Association, Aerospace Medical Association, Chief of Staff at San Juan Regional Medical Center in 1993, and the American Association of Medical Review Officers.
In Farmington, N.M., he served as Guardian Angel Home Health and Hospice Medical Director, San Juan Home Health Care Medical Director, Immediate Care Center physician, and as a physician and board member for Presbyterian Medical Services. He had private medical practices in Orlando, Fla., and Riverside, Calif., and was Medical Director for CIGNA in Los Angeles.
Dr. Brenner married Sheila Brenner November 17, 1981, in Los Angeles, Calif. He retired to the Bayfield area after 50 years of medical practice in Southern California, Central Florida, and Farmington, N.M. He enjoyed astronomy, fishing, marine aquaria, large dogs and his family.
Dr. Brenner is survived by his wife, Sheila Brenner, of Bayfield, Colo.; children Terry Hoffman of Sanford, Fla.; Skipper Brenner of Winter Springs, Fla.; Leslie Briante of Apopka, Fla.; Robert Lawson of Forney, Texas; and Ronald Lawson of Auburn, Wash.; and ten grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, August 10, 2012, at St. John's Episcopal Church, 312 North Orchard Avenue, Farmington, N.M. 87401.
