Obituary for Doris Alene "McDaniel" Brennan

Doris A. Brennan passed away on May 20, 2014 in Durango, Colorado. Doris was born in Durango on March 27, 1920 as the second child to Edward and Zipporah McDaniel. She graduated from Durango High School in 1938. She worked for Parson’s Drug Store and Mountain Bell Telephone.
Doris married Michael G. Brennan on September 14, 1941 in Durango, at St. Columba Catholic Church. They both worked for Durango Credit Bureau.
Mrs. Brennan loved the outdoors and tending to her garden. She was a wonderful seamstress. Her family states that she made all the wedding dresses for her daughters. She was also known as an accomplished carpenter and even helped remodel their family home. She most enjoyed spending time with her family and during the holidays would come up with wonderful dinner creations.
Mrs. Brennan also was a La Plata County commissioner and went to Washington, D.C. to testify for the Animas-La Plata Water Project. She was very active in the local Democratic Party.
She is survived by her daughters, Mary Lou Peterson of Durango, Patty Klaus of Farmington, New Mexico, Gerilynn Waters of Durango and son, Terry Brennan of Prescott, Ariz., her sister, Barbara Cummins of Albuquerque, New Mexico, 11 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at 11 am, at St. Columba Catholic Church. The Rosary will be recited on Friday, May 23, 2014 at 7pm.
